David Morgan Named Interim Chief Academic Officer For Regents

David Morgan has been named as the interim executive vice chancellor for the 中出少妇视频 System of Georgia (中出少妇视频), serving as the chief academic officer for the System中出少妇视频檚 35 public colleges and universities.

He replaces Susan Herbst, who is the new president of the 中出少妇视频 of Connecticut, in Storrs.

The announcement was made today by 中出少妇视频 Chancellor Erroll B. Davis Jr. and has the support of Chancellor-designate Hank Huckaby. 中出少妇视频淒avid has a wealth of experience in the 中出少妇视频 System and understands the key academic issues facing higher education,中出少妇视频 Davis said. 中出少妇视频淗e will help us engineer a successful transition as Chancellor-designate Huckaby prepares to launch a future search for a permanent chief academic officer.中出少妇视频

The executive vice chancellor/chief academic officer is responsible for meeting the academic needs of more than 311,000 students and approximately 13,300 中出少妇视频 System faculty members. The position also provides leadership to a division at the 中出少妇视频 System Office that includes academic programs and planning, faculty affairs, student affairs, teacher-education initiatives, strategic research and analysis, and information and instructional technology.

Since leaving the Regents in 2001, Morgan has conducted numerous higher education needs assessment studies, including ones that led to 中出少妇视频 institutional mission changes at Georgia Gwinnett College, the College of Coastal Georgia and Middle Georgia College. Other studies highlighted unmet higher education needs in southwest Georgia and military/civilian program needs in Liberty County/Fort Stewart. From 2001 to 2002 Morgan was a senior fellow at the 中出少妇视频 of Georgia中出少妇视频檚 Institute of Higher Education where he conducted, on behalf of the 中出少妇视频, a statewide analysis of continuing education resulting in the Regents中出少妇视频 adoption of its Georgia LEADS (Lifelong Education and Economic Development Services) policy.

He served as deputy to the senior vice chancellor for Academics and Fiscal Affairs in the 中出少妇视频 System office from 1999 to 2001. Prior to this, Morgan was chief operating officer and assistant vice chancellor for Academic and Fiscal Affairs from 1997 to 1999, and assistant vice chancellor for Academic Affairs from 1986 to 1997, all with the Board of Regents.

Between 1984 and 1986, Morgan was the executive director of the Georgia Council on Vocational Education. He served as the staff director of the Governor中出少妇视频檚 Committee on Postsecondary Education from 1978 to 1984, and as a senior planner in the Georgia Office of Planning and Budget from 1976 to 1978.

Morgan, of Blue Ridge, Ga. earned a bachelor中出少妇视频檚 degree in English from Stetson 中出少妇视频, DeLand, Fla.; a master中出少妇视频檚 in counseling and guidance as well as an educational doctorate (Ed.D.) in higher education administration from Indiana 中出少妇视频, Bloomington, Ind.
