Butler Named New Vice Chancellor for 中出少妇视频 System Central Office

Atlanta — March 14, 2001

Frank A. Butler has been named by the Board of Regents of the 中出少妇视频 System of Georgia to fill the new position of Vice Chancellor for Academic, Faculty and Student Affairs in the Regents’ Office of Academics and Fiscal Affairs. Butler will assume this new post effective July 2001. Butler currently is interim vice president for external affairs at Armstrong Atlantic State 中出少妇视频.

“We are pleased to identify someone of Frank’s experience and ability within the 中出少妇视频 System for this new post,” said Daniel S. Papp, senior vice chancellor for Academics and Fiscal Affairs. “We conducted an exhaustive search and had a superb pool of candidates. However, Frank’s knowledge, energy, and vision stood out and made him the clear choice. He understands the System and our institutions and is ideally suited for this new position.”

In his new role, Butler will report directly to Papp in an advisory capacity. Butler also will be responsible for overseeing and integrating the board’s policies, procedures, initiatives, and other actions in academic, faculty and student affairs. The position also was created to help maintain and enhance cooperative relations between the 中出少妇视频 System office and the 34 institutions.

Butler has served in several capacities at Armstrong Atlantic since he first arrived there in 1985. In addition to his current position, he was selected by 中出少妇视频 System Chancellor Stephen R. Portch to serve as the university’s interim president in 1999-2000 while a presidential search was conducted. From 1985 to 1999, Butler was vice president and dean of faculty at Armstrong Atlantic. Throughout his tenure at Armstrong Atlantic, Butler has taught as a professor of physics.

Between 1979 and 1985, Butler held both academic and administrative posts at Indiana 中出少妇视频 East in Richmond, Indiana, including that of acting chancellor. He also has held administrative and teaching positions at both Northern Kentucky 中出少妇视频, Highland Heights, Kentucky and the 中出少妇视频 of Kentucky, Lexington, Kentucky.

Butler received his undergraduate degree in physics with electrical engineering in 1961 from the 中出少妇视频 of Miami, Miami, Florida, and earned a Ph.D. in physics in 1966 from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, New York.

He has served on numerous campus- and System-level committees, including serving as chair of the local P-16 Coastal Empire Council in the Savannah area and playing a key role in the System’s successful conversion from quarters to semesters. Butler has been active in many professional associations and is the author of numerous papers and articles. He has been deeply involved in the Savannah area through his volunteer service groups such as the Coastal Georgia Boy Scout Council, the Savannah Science Museum, Habitat for Humanity and other groups.
